Interesting Facts About Dreams And Nightmares

How, when, why, who - there is a reason behind everything and that is exactly what's worth sharing here. Dreams sometimes leave you numb for a day and sometimes you have no idea what you dreamt about. An average human being spends 6 whole years of his/her life dreaming. There's a time limit to how much you can remember about your dream. Blind people can dream. The good part is that you can often control your dreams. There is not one person who doesn't dream, except those who have psychological disorders. Not everyone dreams in colour and not everyone dreams in black and white. It is very important for you to keep sleeping and dreaming when you're at the REM stage of your sleep. Nightmares are just another type of dream, but why do we have them? First and foremost, a nightmare is not different from a dream; ‘nightmare’ is simply the term given to a bad dream, and comes from ancient beliefs about evil spirits visiting the innocent while they sleep. No one knows exactly why we dream, but experts have speculated dreams are the mind’s way of making sense of the random signals that occur during REM sleep when proteins are being made. “Nightmares probably evolved to help make us anxious about potential dangers,” Harvard researcher Deirdre Barrett told Live Science in 2010. Though nightmares aren’t something to dwell on or waste time being upset about, if you are having nightmares frequently and they are disrupting your everyday life, pay a visit to your doctor.
